How to Treat a Sore Throat

Sore Throat Lozenges

The severity of your sore throat can vary from dry and irritated to swollen and inflamed, Cēpacol acts quickly in order to relieve your sore throat pain and minor mouth irritation.

What causes a sore throat and what type of sore throat do you have?

First, you need to be able to recognize symptoms. This may sound daunting because the early signs of a sore throat can be very mild, and you may think it will get better on its own. While this could be true, there is no symptom too mild not to warrant attention. Be wary of dryness, slight difficulty when talking or swallowing and hints of hoarseness.

Sore throats are often associated with the common cold. One day all is good and well, but the next thing you know, you have a headache, watery eyes and a runny nose. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is likely that you may have a cold and if you think like we do, it is time to nip symptoms in the bud!

How can you treat your sore throat?

Now that you have identified the symptoms, it’s time to take action to prevent that sore throat from getting worse.

Get some rest – If you are suffering from stress, overexerting yourself, or not getting enough rest you may not be giving your throat a chance to heal. It is a good idea to take it easy until you feel better. Resting your voice as well as your body can also help your sore throat.

Stay hydrated – If you are dehydrated, your body might not be able to produce enough mucus or saliva, leaving your throat feeling dry and irritated. Drinking plenty of water can help to lubricate your throat and ease the pain. Also, avoid drinks which may dehydrate you, such as alcohol and caffeine.[1]

Use a humidifier – Humidifying the air with a cool-air humidifier can help ease the symptoms of a sore throat by soothing and hydrating the swollen air passages.[2] Also try sitting for several minutes in a steamy environment, such as a bathroom or sauna.

Treat with Medicated Lozenges. At the first sign of a sore throat, you can fight back with lozenges. Sucking lozenges increases saliva and lubricates the throat. Additionally, medicated lozenges such as Cēpacol provide numbing pain relief that other home remedies and cough drops simply cannot.

Our lozenges contain ingredients designed for maximum-strength numbing relief* from sore throat pain. Cēpacol lozenges are fast-acting to provide quick sore throat relief when you need it. For powerful relief try Cēpacol Instamax lozenges – they contain two max strength medicines in one lozenge for max numbing and max cooling relief.
